Opened in July 2008, the Abbey Coffee Art & Music Lounge quickly became known for its direct-trade artisan roasted coffee by Verve Coffee Roasters, impeccable interior aesthetics and committment to the fine and performing arts. Voted the best new coffee shop in Santa Cruz by Metro Santa Cruz, the Abbey is a popular spot for neighbors, professionals, students and families alike.

As part of its passion to be a venue for up and coming musicians, the Abbey compiled a collection of songs from many of the bands and musicians that have played on the stage at The Abbey. "The Abbey Presents, Volume 1" is a 20 song album compilation that was released in 2008. Volume 2 is to be released in late 2009/early 2010.
